Green Tea Latte?

First of all, What is LATTE?

It’s a type of coffee, made with espresso and milk.

The traditional one can be found in Italy which is made with steamed milk but without foam on top; in the rest of the world it usually does have foamed milk on top (and the steamed milk) and it can be served hot or cold.

When Starbucks released the Tazo® Green Tea Latte in 2006, a new market was born. People now create their own recipes.

Here’s an overview of some of them: ENJOY!


Recipe 1: Matcha Latte

Put 1/4 teaspoon Matcha (powdered green tea) in a coffee mug. Add sweetener (as much as you prefer). Add heated or steamed milk to the rim, stir. Sprinkle with a bit of matcha powder.

Tip: You can also put it in the microwave for about 2 minutes but you then need to keep an eye on the mug. Remove the mug as soon as you see foaming.

Recipe 2: Soy Latte

Put 120 ml soy milk, 120 ml water, 1g green tea powder and 10g of white sugar into a skillet and mix it. Heat the skillet while whisking until hot and foamy. Pour into a mug when ready.

Tip: you can also try this recipe with a green tea bag instead of green tea powder or with regular milk instead of soy milk.


Recipe 3: Pasty Latte

Mix two ounces of warm milk with ¼ to ½ teaspoon of green tea powder. Mixing just enough to create a thick paste. Place the paste in the cup. Add honey or brown sugar (to taste), along with 4 ounces of warm milk. Mix well and enjoy!

Recipe 4: Blender Latte

Mix ½ to 1 teaspoon green tea powder with the 2 ounces of warm water. Put the mixture into a blender. Add 4 ounces of warm milk, 3 teaspoons of sugar or honey and ½ to 1 cup of ice cubes. Blend until smooth.

Recipe 5: Iced Green Tea Latte

Place ¾ to 1 teaspoon green tea powder in a bowl. Add ½ cup of warm water and 3 teaspoons of sugar or honey. Blend well until the mixture is thoroughly dissolved. Put mixture into serving glass. Add ½ to 1 cup of ice cubes. Add ½ cup soy or regular 2% milk.

Recipe 6: Chai – Green Tea Mixture

Boil 4 cups of water. Add 2 Chai and 3 green tea bags. Seep the tea for 3-5 minutes. Remove the bags. Blend 1 cup of chilled milk in a blender so it becomes frothy. Pour the tea into individual serving cups. Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar or honey to each cup. Add frothy milk to tea. Sprinkle green tea powder or cinnamon on top.
